Thanksgiving is around the corner. We all know the turkey isn’t always the star of the show, the sides is what steals the show. Here’s a recipe I found to be a fantastic addition to your menu. Apple Sweet Potato Casserole.
I will tell you a secret. I love allrecipes.com. Allrecipes.com is my go to when I am stuck trying to figure out dinner. If I am sitting in my kitchen with a chicken leg, I go to allrecipes.com and 99% of the time I find something delicious to do with that chicken leg. It’s not all about Pinterest ladies. I have nearly a bushel of apples left over from apple picking, I needed some ideas for Thanksgiving that includes apples. Apple Sweet Potato Casserole caught my eye and what a scrumptious dish!
This dish is really easy to make.

Prep your vegetables

Make your topping

Sprinkle mixture over casserole with chopped pecan.
My favorite part about this dish besides the apples, sweet potatoes, cinnamon, brown sugar, pecans and of course the smell, is that I could serve this as a dessert too! Who said sweet potatoes can’t be a dessert? I have made Sweet Potato Pancakes for breakfast. Why not scoop some casserole in a dish with a dollop of vanilla ice cream for desert. You’ve got the apples, the strudel topping and the crunch of those pecans, it’s a Thanksgiving Sundae at your fingertips.
I am not going to keep you reading my cravings over this casserole, so here’s a link to the recipe. You can add this right to your Thanksgiving menu for dinner AND dessert this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!
