What warms you up on a brisk Fall day? A cup of hot tea or a glass of your favorite red wine? Here’s my top 5 favorite fall drinks of all time. These drinks will really warm you up.
Drinks that feature Fall harvest favorites are a no-brainer this time of year from pumpkin-spiced coffee to apple ciders and harvest beers. My favorite coffee drink is MacD’s Pumpkin Spiced Coffee. If I don’t get it every morning, my day will not be complete.
Hot Apple Cider Cinnamon Spice Mix is delicious and makes a great gift too. Make up a batch to keep on hand. It’s perfect in red wine. Delish!
Since we are on the red wine topic, how about some Mulled Wine. Easy to make and sure to bring your body temperature up to a boil. This is a great drink in the Fall and especially in the Winter. When it’s snowy and cold, Mulled Wine is your answer. Star anise, cinnamon, orange are just a few of the ingredients that scream warmth. I like to add this mixture to Cabernet Sauvignon – one of my favorite wines. Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa has one of the best Mulled Wine recipes.
Apples are another Fall favorite. Why not spike up your cider with a Bourbon Maple Apple Cider? This drink is one of my husband’s favorites. I’m not much of a Bourbon Drinker, so I had to have my husband drink it and believe me, I didn’t have to twist his arm. Maple Crown Royal is a great alternative. Yum!
Cool brisk weather not only brings temps down but also is the beginning of cold and flu season. If you’ve got a cold, I swear by this remedy to help you get through it, the Hot Toddy. Combine your favorite brandy or whiskey with hot tea, and fresh lemon juice. Curl up under a warm blanket, snuggle up next to the fireplace with a movie and your toddy and you will be feeling better in no time. There’s nothing like Grampa’s Whiskey to cure your sniffles.
Root beer floats are one of my favorites, especially at Johnny Rockets. It may be a summer non-alchohalic drink, but how does a hard root beer sound? Coney Island Hard Root Beer. Oh Em Gee! This is the best invention ever besides wine. With a hint of vanilla and sassafras, you will go crazy for this drink. At 6% alcohol, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream in your pint glass and you’ll be UNDER the boardwalk down by the sea. If you haven’t already, get yourself to the store and try it out.
So, there you have it. My top 5 favorite fall drinks. Which one will you give a try?
